Epic Road Trip Through the American WestEpic Road Trip Through the American West: Grand Tetons, Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore & Badlands There’s something magical about hitting the open road with family, a car full of snacks, a playlist of favorites, and miles of God's creation. Our latest adventure took us through four of the most iconic destinations in the American West: Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, and Badlands National Park—each offering its own unique charm, history, and jaw-dropping scenery. 🌄 Grand Teton National Park: Where Mountains Meet SerenityOur journey began in Grand Teton National Park, and honestly, no photo does those jagged peaks justice. The Tetons rise abruptly from the valley floor, creating a dramatic and breathtaking skyline. We spent our time hiking near Jenny Lake, spotting moose along the Snake River, and soaking in the peacefulness of the alpine landscape. The sunrises here were especially unforgettable—soft pinks and golds reflecting off the snow-capped peaks. This park feels quieter than some of the others, almost like a well-kept secret. It’s the perfect place to unplug, slow down, and reconnect. 🌋 Yellowstone National Park: A Wonderland of Fire and WaterJust a short drive north lies Yellowstone, the crown jewel of American national parks. It’s wild, weird, and absolutely awe-inspiring. We saw the mighty Old Faithful erupt (right on schedule), marveled at the vibrant colors of the Grand Prismatic Spring, and explored the dramatic depths of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. Bison roamed the roads freely, and we even got caught in a bison jam (and a bit of a heart-stopper!). Yellowstone truly feels alive beneath your feet, with steam vents hissing and mud pots bubbling all around. It's a place unlike anywhere else on Earth. 🇺🇸 Mount Rushmore: Faces in StoneFrom Yellowstone, we made our way to Mount Rushmore in South Dakota. After days immersed in nature, it was striking to stand before such a powerful symbol of American history. Seeing the faces of Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt, and Lincoln carved into the granite reminded us of the vision and complexity behind this country’s past. We arrived just before sunset, and the golden light gave the monument an almost surreal glow. As well as seeing it lit up under the night sky! It’s one of those iconic sights that truly lives up to the hype. 🌫 Badlands National Park: Otherworldly BeautyOur final stop was Badlands National Park, and it completely surprised us. The dramatic, layered rock formations looked like something from another planet. We did some hiking, admired the views from one of the overlooks, and watched prairie dogs pop in and out of their burrows along the road. Despite the name, there was nothing “bad” about the Badlands—it was stark, hauntingly beautiful, and deeply peaceful in its own way. Final ThoughtsThis trip was a reminder of just how beautiful God's creation is! As well as how vast and varied the American landscape is—from jagged mountain peaks to geyser-filled basins, from historic carvings to alien-looking deserts. Each park gave us something different: awe, wonder, perspective, and memories that will last a lifetime. God is truly the Great Artist! If you’re thinking about taking a similar trip, do it. Pack the car, plan your route, and give yourself the gift of time in these incredible places. You won’t regret it. Have you been to any of these parks? What was your favorite part? Drop a comment—I’d love to hear about your adventures!
